North Carolina Medicaid Reform

On September 22, 2015, North Carolina lawmakers passed House Bill 372, known as the Medicaid Transformation and Reorganization Act, which will privatize the state’s Medicaid system.

n.c. awarded grant to plan community behavioral health clinics

In December 2015 Governor Pat McCrory announced that the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) awarded a grant to the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to plan the establishment of a network of Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics.

Governor creates Task Force on Mental Health and Substance Use

Governor Pat McCrory's Task Force on Mental Health and Substance Use comprises experts from the justice system and related private sector professionals, the healthcare provider community, county leadership, non-governmental entities and private sector employers. The Task Force brings together the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of government and key stakeholders to make recommendations that will improve the lives of citizens with mental illness and substance use disorders.
