Q: How do I (or someone I know) start receiving services?
A: When you call us, we will refer you to one of our Admission’s Coordinators, and they will take some basic information over the phone, and schedule you to come in for an assessment with a licensed therapist.
Q: What does it cost for your services?
A: The cost of our services depends on many things including; 1) what services you receive, 2) what type of insurance you have (or don’t have), 3) any applicable State or County regulations, 4) State Medicaid “rates” for services, and 4) duration of your services. Our staff will be glad to meet with you and go over and explain any and all “costs” in more detail with you.
Q: Who pays for my services?
A: Again, this varies depending on what type of insurance you have. If you have Medicaid they pay for all of the services we provide, so there would be no cost to you. We would bill Medicaid directly for you. The same thing applies to Medicare with some of our services, we bill them directly for you. For private insurance, it really depends on the type of insurance coverage you have. Our Insurance Specialist will be glad to go over this with you.
Q: What if I don’t have any insurance at all, can I still receive services?
A: You may be able to still receive services, even if you don’t have any insurance. We do provide some services which are funded by Cardinal Innovations Behavioral Health Care for individuals that do not have any insurance. Q: What types of insurance do you accept?
A: We accept Medicaid, Medicare and many private insurance companies (including Aetna, United Health Care, BCBS, Magellan, etc.). We are constantly working with insurance companies to expand our list, so please call us at 704-567-0790 for further information or to see if we accept your insurance plan.
Q: How do I know if my private insurance will pay for my services?
A: This depends on many factors, including: a) what company you have your insurance with, b) what type of insurance policy you have, c) what has been set as your personal “deductibles” , c) what you have paid for so far “out of pocket”, and d) what service you are receiving. Our Insurance Specialist will be glad to meet with you and go over all of this with you.
Q: What happens or takes place at my first Assessment?
A: The assessment is a face to face meeting with one of our therapist for the purpose of gathering helpful information about your current situation that will help us to decide how we may can help you.
Q: Is the information I share during the assessment confidential?
A: Yes, all information that you share during your assessment is strictly confidential. You are protected by “rights” and we can only share information if you sign a “consent” form and give us permission to do so.
Q: Do I need to bring anything with me to my first assessment?
A: Yes. Please bring with you any insurance card you may have (i.e. Medicaid or private insurance) and a list of any and all medications that you are currently taking. It would also be good to have the name and contact information for anyone that you want listed as your “emergency” contact.
Q: Can I bring someone with me to someone with me to my assessment, or do I need to come alone?
A: Yes, you can bring someone with you to your first assessment if you would like. This could be a friend, a family member, your significant other, etc. Whether you decide to bring someone with you or come alone, the choice is entirely up to you.
Q: Am I required to bring someone with me to my first assessment?
A: The only time you are required to bring someone with you is when the court has determined you need a “legal guardian” and has awarded that power to another person. In this case, we cannot conduct an assessment without the approval of your legal guardian.
Q: Do I have to pay any money at the time of my first assessment?
Q: Normally, the answer is “no”, you don’t have to pay anything at the time of your first assessment. Especially if you Medicaid, Medicare or no insurance at all. The only time you would have to pay money at the time of your assessment is if you have private insurance and you have not met your deductible. In this case, the cost of your assessment would be discussed up “front” prior to your first scheduled assessment.
Q: What if I don’t have transportation to get to my appointment?
A: Depending on what service you receive, we may be able to help you. For your first assessment, we can send you a bus pass to get you to (and back home from) your scheduled appointment. For other services, you can speak to your case manager.
Q: What mental health services do you provide?
A: We currently provide: Assessment, Individual Therapy, Family Therapy, Medication Management, Psychiatric medication injections, Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services, Community Support Team, and ACT (Assertive Community Treatment).
Q: How do I know if I have a mental illness?
A: The best way to know if you have a mental illness is to see a psychiatrist (or a doctor) for an evaluation. Through a series of questions with a trained licensed professional, they can help to determine if you may have or are struggling with a mental illness. Q: If I know someone that I think has a mental illness, how can I get them to receive services?
A: Please be aware that all of our services are on a “volunteer” basis, which means the person has to be willing to sign a “consent” for treatment. None of our staff, doctors, or licensed staff can “force” someone to receive our services. The only way that mental health services can be “forced” in the state of North Carolina is by a judge signing a court order stating that they have to receive services. Q: What Substance Abuse services do you provide?
A: We currently provide: Substance Abuse Assessments, Substance Abuse Outpatient group, SAIOP (Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program), DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) Assessments and DWI 20 and 40 hour treatment groups.
